Forex Charts provider change: good news for our users
We’ve changed the provider of our “Real-time Chart Station” and “Live Streaming Forex Charts“: it is now TeleTrader instead of Netdania. These are good news for all our users. Here is why:
- The new charts can be used on any device: desktop, mobile or tablet — that was not the case until now!
- No plug-ins, no hassle — Bye bye Java, hello HTML5! :

Women of the Street – FT Video
To close the series of interviews with our eight Women in Forex, we wanted to share with you a video from the Financial Times that our Head of Content Pere Monguió found a few days ago.
Investment is a man’s world, despite evidence that women may well be better at it. Why? John Authers talks to Suzanne Duncan of State Street and Meredith Jones, author of Women of the Street in a search for answers. Continue reading Women of the Street – FT Video
Women in Forex – Jane Foley: “Businesses are potentially losing out by not attracting more women”
Jane Foley is an economist specialized in currencies with a long experience in the banking sector. She has worked for Standard and Poor’s, Barclays, Gain Capital and Rabobank, where she’s been a Forex strategist for the last five years, just when we interviewed her for the first time. Feeling privileged to have the kind of job she has, Jane believes you can be a good working mother as long as you are organized and separate your professional and personal lives as much as you can. According to her, “it is difficult to find women who want to work in the industry” and businesses should attract more women in all parts of their organizations. Women in Forex – Valeria Bednarik: “My relationship with Forex is like an old marriage”
Valeria Bednarik has been a currency trader for 12 years now, and a member of the FXStreet team since 2009. Just as she told us five years ago in our interview with her, she loves what she does for a living… underlining that she works to live, and not the contrary. Working from her home in Buenos Aires, she follows a European schedule, which is a bit gruelling, waking up at 4 am. But she feels comfortable that way, and the combination of work and family now “runs like a Swiss clock”. Her kids being older and more independent, she has more space for herself. She believes women have some qualities that make them better traders, though she thinks that “it will take a couple more decades to see women taking a more relevant role in the financial world.” Continue reading Women in Forex – Valeria Bednarik: “My relationship with Forex is like an old marriage”
Women in Forex – Jody Samuels: “Women need to be so much more organized than men”
Jody Samuels is still a trader, a coach and a business woman, as she was when we interviewed her for the first time five years ago. Her business is different in what she offers, but it is still about educating other traders. She talks about the challenges in working home and the sets of habits she needs to develop being her own boss. She also underlines how crucial it is for female traders to keep time for themselves – “The key is to be organized and to learn how to say ‘no’ when necessary.” Continue reading Women in Forex – Jody Samuels: “Women need to be so much more organized than men”
Women in Forex – Kathy Lien: “I’ve become more patient which I guess I can credit to my son”
Five years ago, when we interviewed Kathy Lien, she was Director of Currency Research at GFT. She is now running her own business together with partner Boris Schlossberg. And became a mum. And works from home. She’s experienced a lot of changes in only a few years. But at least one thing is still the same: she trades Forex passionately and dedicates as much time as possible to it, while keeping her private life as intact as possible: “I’m very good at compartmentalizing. I think if you allow each to filter into the different areas of your life it becomes a mess!” Continue reading Women in Forex – Kathy Lien: “I’ve become more patient which I guess I can credit to my son”
Women in Forex – Raghee Horner: “Balance is about juggling… success is about flow”
Raghee Horner has been trading since she was 17, she’s now 43. Almost half her life. We interviewed her in 2010 about her career and life. Today, as part of our “Women in Forex – 5 years later” series, we talked with her to know what she has been up to and if her views about her life have changed. “We as humans change very little”, she says. Raghee still trades and teaches, and still thinks that the markets don’t care about her gender. Her routine helps her in her day-to-day but she believes that “the idea of balance is a myth”. Continue reading Women in Forex – Raghee Horner: “Balance is about juggling… success is about flow”
Women in Forex: Karen Jones: “Delegate as much as possible!”
Back in June 2010, we interviewed Karen Jones, for our “Women in Forex” series, that was published on FXStreet and in the FX Trader Magazine. Five years later, she has taken new and greater responsabilities, but basically thinks the same about being a woman in the industry. A new advice she gives to keep a good balance between personal and professional lives: “Make sure you prioritise the important parts of your life and outsource the rest if you can.”
