Adam Button is the Forex Person of The Year 2014

Forex Person Of The Year 2014The Forex Person of the year 2014 is Adam Button, the Managing editor of ForexLive.

When our team discussed who could be the person of the year 2014, it seemed that one and the same name was coming back and back again… Adam Button. Everyone seemed to agree that he has done an excellent job during the year at the front of ForexLive, strenthening an already successful model. In addition, his decision to take over the management of the company (together with  co-analysts Eamonn Sheridan, Mike Paterson and Ryan Littlestone) in September of this year represented a vital move for ForexLive but also excellent news for the sector with the arrival of a new independent website (ForexLive used to be property of the broker FXDD). Without Adam Button, ForexLive would not be what it is today and could even have died, with the damage that it would have caused on the Forex retail sector. Another remarkable and trader-oriented decision is the appointment of Greg Michalowski: he’s been brought in to help and make of ForexLive, almost only used by experienced traders, a website more accessible to newcomers. This way, ForexLive will expand his readership and at the same time promote the education of traders, something that FXStreet’s always supported.

FXStreet Meetup Events: See you in 2015

We’re closing 2014 with successful numbers for the FXStreet Meetup Events: we have reached over 1800 people in the last six months, opened 6 new cities and we count with an average of 389 attendees per month and 35 per event.

New Light India

New Light IndiaEarlier this year, we told you a bit about the NGO’s we are supporting here at FXStreet. Today we’d like to talk about a charity we’ve been working with: New Light India. New Light is a non-profit community development project and charitable trust based in Kalighat, Kolkata, one of the oldest red light districts of the city. Uddami Software Services, with its business beneficiary New Light, trains young people to surmount the digital divide and find their rightful space in the work place. They are able to put together teams of local admins and editors, who get their first experience of being in the workforce.  After a friend of Francesc, our President, spoke very well of New Light India and Uddami Software Services, FXStreet hired their service during the last year for data entry tasks and the team has been totally reliable and professional. We warmly recommend companies in need of this type of duties to consider them!

Since 2000, New Light has provided shelter, educational opportunities, recreational facilities, healthcare and legal aid for the children, girls and women in the Kalighat community. There is a crèche and night-shelter for the protection and education of victims of trafficking, women in prostitution and children rescued from red light areas. New Light also provides micro-credit facilities and an income-generation program (Anchal) for mothers within the area.

Save the date: next Wednesday, December 10th, will be the last edition of our One Day, One Topic event for 2014. That is already the 10th edition of an event which first took place in June 2012.

Forex Magnates Awards 2014_Educational ToolProud moment for our company! FXStreet received the Best Educational Tool Award for its Learning Center at the Forex Magnates’ London Summit 2014.

FXStreet’s Learning Center was launched a few years ago. It’s a complete program to learn about how to trade Forex, developed by our Gonçalo Moreira, long-time trader and FXStreet’s content advisor. It’s a great satisfaction to see FXStreet’s educational efforts recognized: be it through the Forex Magnates awards or through our collaboration with the Essex University to create the Financial Trading Analysis Master.

FXStreet at Barcelona Trading Point trade fair

Gonçalo MoreiraWe are proud of taking part in the Barcelona Trading Point, a trade fair which is currently being held in the Catalan city. Our expert, Gonçalo Moreira, has participated in a round table related to the use of indicators in trading. Alex On, co-founder of TradersCorner-Online, and Rob Hoffman, CEO in Become A Better Trader, have been the other panellists. They’ve also debated about stop loss in intraday.
