Today we want to present you one of our most veteran members: Vicky, who is in charge of the Spanish web area and Webinars. On this interview, she explains to us how it has been her journey on FXStreet and how traveling and cinema play an important role in her free time.
Vicky at work
First of all, how does a day in the life of the Spanish and Premium Manager at FXStreet look?
When I arrive at the office, the first thing that I do is to update the Spanish site with news, reports and I decide the featured content… After this, I check my email and I answer to our contributors, experts and users. I manage my time between the Spanish site (all morning, usually) and Premium in the afternoon.
You have been working at FXStreet since 2007. What work achievement would you highlight?
My work relationship with my colleagues has always been very good, and for me this is the most valuable.
Following the work topic related questions, is there any aspect of your job that would you like to change?
I would like to have more time to write because I really enjoy writing. I like coverage days, not only events (like the Fed or NFP), when something more important happens, such as the Brexit, the US elections, and so on.
If you were not working as Spanish and Webinars Manager, what would you like to do for a living?
I would like to work as a screenwriter or writing travel guides.
And now it’s time to confess… Would you change something about your boss or co-workers?
I accept them as they are… as they accept me. Live and let live 😉
It seems that on FXStreet everybody puts on headphones while working at the office. What do you usually listen to?
I listen to radio programs about cinema, travels, food and very different kind of music. I can listen to opera, classical, flamenco, rumba, pop, rock, boleros, songwriters… On the last months, I have been listening to C Duncan, a young Scottish composer who plays all the instruments of his compositions. He creates special atmospheres. I recommend you his song called Novices.
Being honest, are there any weird habit you have when working?
I don’t know if I have any weird habit, you should ask my work colleagues 😉
Vicky in her personal life
What do you typically do when you get out of the office?
Depends on the day, some days I meet with friends or I go to the cinema. Other days I enjoy buying at the market to prepare dinner at home. Once at home, I love reading, watching films and series. I like watching sports as well, especially football.
Do you have any specific hobby that you would like to share with us?
During years my hobby was the radio. I made for 8 years a cinema program on a local radio station. Also, I like very much to play football, I played during years, and nowadays I play some weekends. And of course, I love traveling.
As you said, cinema is one of your passions. In your opinion, who is the best movie director?
I can say you a lot of them. I enjoy classics like William Wyler, John Ford, Elia Kazan, David Lean, Billy Wilder…but I also love more transgressors like David Lynch or Pedro Almodóvar to say something really different…I could tell you dozens of names of directors that I like.
You also love to travel… What is your next traveling destination during the upcoming months?
I think in multiple options haha My mind is always thinking on possible destinations. The world is so interesting and we have so little time. Maybe Bolivia, Japan, the United States… I will choose in the next months.
And last but not least, we would like to ask you about a controversial and popular topic at the office… Do you support Barça? If not, dare to say which football team you support!
I hope nobody gets angry with me, but I support Real Madrid since I was a little child. I enjoy talking about football with my co-workers. It’s always a good conversation topic!
