We are headquartered in Barcelona, but our site wouldn’t be the same without its 30 international co-workers that cover financial markets all around the world. And that’s why today we want to introduce you Desy, FXStreet’s Content Assistant. She explains to us how is for her working from Indonesia, her hobbies and shows us the most incredible beaches to visit in her country. Be aware because you might want to pack your things and move to Jakarta.

You are a Content Assistant but working remotely. Where are you located and how is a typical working day for you?
I’m located in Indonesia, South East Asia. Indonesia is an archipelago, we have 5 major islands, and soooo many medium/small ones. I live in Jawa (Java), one of the major islands. You must know Java (programming language and computing platform).
The other Java you should know is … Java coffee! Which was the source of the language’s name. If you are a coffee lover, you should try Indonesian coffee. Regarding my daily tasks, I get up early in the morning, 4:50 AM, and I turn on the computer. I start reading my emails, the news and I check the economic calendar to start publishing reports until the sleepiness goes away hahaha I work closely with Ivan, my team leader.
If you were not the Content Assistant of FXStreet, what would you like to do for a living?
I like to design. Also, I like to help people by doing things that I am good at, such as teaching and sharing my knowledge or comforting people who have relationship problems. And I have to confess that I would love to do something related to performing arts. But for now, I can’t imagine what kind of work would involve all these things. So far I am happy with my job at FXStreet.
What do you like best about your job?
Working from home. As a housewife and mother, I look after the house and I take care of my son while being productive to have income and develop myself.
What do you like least about your job?
Waking up so early in the morning hahaha
You work from home. It’s a pretty special condition to work remotely 100% of the time. Do you like it?
I love it!
Do you work in a quiet environment or do you put music or radio?
It depends on what kind of work I’m doing. If it’s not a complicated task, I love to put music. But if it is a difficult one, one that needs a solution or evaluating, then I really need a quiet environment.
What is your favorite band or singer at the moment?
It’ hard to say because I like many songs, and I’m not particularly a fan of one band or singer. Generally, I like pop & fusion jazz. At the moment, I think I’m kinda infatuated with Alan Walker – Faded & Ed Sheeran – Shape of you.
Any unconfessed vice or weird habits you have when working?
I don’t know if this one is a weird habit but when I work, unconsciously, I put my left elbow on the table, my thumb under my chin and my other fingers around my lips, kinda covering it. Is that an unusual posture? 😀

To be honest, I’m not into animated gifs. I love illustration but not animated gifs. How about if I share an illustration that I love? This one is from Linzie Hunter, my favorite. She is an illustrator and hand-letterer from London.
What do you typically do when you finish your working day?
Lunch! My shift ends at 12.30 PM and usually I’m starving.
What are your summer holiday plans?
For this summer, I don’t have any plan. But I always love going to the beach. White sand and crystal clear water, it’s heaven for me! I love to swim, either at the beach or in the swimming pool.
I have visited beaches at Tidung island in Kepulauan Seribu or Thousand Islands, a group of islands near Jawa (Java), where I live.
But Indonesia has so many beautiful beaches. I would recommend Parai at Bangka island.
Or Gili Trawangan – Lombok.
And the list can go on, and on, and on ☺ And of course, the famous Bali.

Detik.com, which it is a portal news, and Pinterest because there are tons of great designs and illustrations. I like to read the news to know what happens around Jakarta and the recent issues. And I love design and illustration, a pleasure to my eyes and soul.
Do you have a specific hobby?
I like to bake and knitting crochet. But I can’t do it too often because of the time limitation. And one more thing: collecting Lego minifigures! I have lots of them. I don’t know why but I am so fascinated by the details and similarities of them with real life or real characters from movies. These are among my collection:
What is the last movie you’ve watched? Would you recommend it?
Wonder Woman, and yes!! I definitely recommend it. I like the story, the costumes, the fight scenes, martial art choreography and Gal Gadot!! She is the perfect choice for the character.
