Today we want you to meet Sandeep Kanihama, FXStreet’s Content Editor. Sandeep is a Forex analyst from the Indian capital city of Delhi who loves sport, animated movies and old school music. How dSandeep Kanihamaoes a day in the life of a Content Editor at FXStreet look?

Electrifying! The first thi
ng that I look for in the morning are the mails from
our Editor-in-Chief Ivan about  reports (my lifeline in FXStreet). He never fails to send them even if he is on a holiday (he is a bit workaholic I guess, but I love it 😄).  Subsequently, I check our economic calendar to know what’s in store for the day and I publish reports in our Analysis section.

Apart from writing short news, I keep on reading the latest financial news and I try to learn some new financial concepts because sometimes reports are very technical. Simultaneously, I make sure that I maintain the appropriate pace of news posting not to fall behind the curve.

If you were not a Content Editor of FXStreet, what would you like to do for a living?

Army officer. There is absolutely no doubt about it. I am crazy about my country and patriotism is in my blood as my father was engaged with security forces. I was very keen to join the army but due to family events, I could not do it. I have a daughter and I wish, hopefully, that she fulfils my dream by serving our country.

What do you like best about your job?

In my last job, I was working as a technical analyst for commodities and currencies and I loved being surrounded by the world of Forex all the time. I consider myself highly privileged to be working with a company which gives me ample opportunities to learn more and more about the Forex world. After joining FXStreet, I don’t remember even a single day where I did not learn something new. Additionally, there is minimal interference from my superiors about how to get the job done, so I can very well choose how to go about the tasks in hand, something very rare one can find in a company.

Also, the team at FXStreet is very supportive and helpful. What’s more, another reason to like this job is my partner in crime, Pablo Piovano. Whenever I get stuck or I have some doubts regarding anything (or everything), he is always there with his magical million dollar smile. Love you mate 😉!!!

What do you like least about your job?

Solitude! I communicate with all my colleagues through hangout or emails and I do miss the office environment. Moreover, sometimes it gets very boring working on lengthy reports, especially at the end of the year. Sometimes those reports get on my nerves…

As you’ve just said, you work from home. It means solitude, but I guess there are some advantages…

At the beginning I didn’t like but as time passed by, I started loving it. No traffic chaos (in India traffic is like hell during office hours) and flexibility to work. Plus: I have very supportive colleagues. Definitely, I love it and I would love to be associated with FXStreet as long as I can.

You are one of our “remotely located” team members. Can you tell us a bit more about where you live?

I am living in the Indian capital city of Delhi, which is also known as the heart of India. Always crowded as most of Indian cities are, but a must-visit place in case someone wants to experience different cultures, historical monuments etc. So, basically this place is a vital link between east and west.

Do you work in a quiet environment?

Yes! I simply cannot work with music or radio as it disturbs my reading and understanding skills. Sometimes, I watch financial news channels if there is some event moving markets.

What is your favorite band or singer at the moment?

I know it’s a bit old school but I love almost all the songs of late Michael Jackson, especially “Earth Song” and “They Don’t Really Care About Us”.

Any unconfessed vice or weird habits you have when working?

Putting wallpapers of bodybuilding and weightlifting on my laptop or desktop which everyone, including my wife, finds very irritating. But I just love them.

Animated gifs are often used in internal emails among collaborators at FXStreet… Share with us a gif that you particularly like!

What do you typically do when you finish your working day?

When I finish my working day, I usually go to the gym and later I help my mom on the household work.

What are your holiday plans for the next months?

Absolutely no holiday plans as I have already finished all my annual leaves because I went to drop my wife earlier this year to New Zealand since we got NZ residency on a conditional basis that as a primary applicant she has to stay there for two years. I am going to be living a bachelor’s life during the next two years, even after being married and having a two years old daughter 😆

What are your favorite websites? Do not say FXStreet 😉

“GOOGLE, GOOGLE and GOOGLE.” Make no mistake about it as it helps me to find out the meaning of all the technical jargon (which sometimes I don’t understand) on reports.

Do you have a specific hobby?

Just one and that is going to the gym and sweat it out. I love it, it keeps me fit and also it helps me in getting rid of all my tensions and stress.

Do you have a pet?

I used to have two guinea pigs named Brownie and Blackie. They both died last year and after that I decided not to keep any pets in the future as it’s very depressing when some of your pets die in front of you and you feel so helpless, not being able to save them. I really loved them. They were very much part of my every day’s life. I still miss them.

What is the last movie you’ve watched?

I know it will sound funny but the last movie that I watched was an animated one: “Angry Birds”. I just love watching cartoons and still do it when I have time.

Would you recommend it?

Definitely! To anyone who loves animated movies and want to smile for a while.
